My vision with Strong Voice Studio is to build a supportive community of singers with diverse styles and backgrounds who share a love of singing and a desire to fully develop their voices so that they can most effectively express themselves through the art of singing.
The STRONG VOICE philosophy can be summed up very simply: Proper singing requires a strong voice. A strong voice doesn’t necessarily mean a big voice or a loud voice. It simply means that your voice has the strength required to sing at a high level.
The voice consists of a set of muscles that work together. When these muscles are too weak
When these muscles are too weak to do their job properly, various vocal problems can result, leading to a bad sound, debilitating tension, or an irritated throat. This in turn can lead to soreness, hoarseness, breathiness of tone, or even vocal “nodules” that may require surgery to remove.
Proper singing requires training the vocal muscles to function as they are meant to function, and then strengthening them to expand the voice’s range, size, and agility. This is the Strong Voice approach to vocal lessons and training.
I strive to provide my students with singing experiences outside of private voice lessons, which greatly accelerates progress. These include public performances with fellow students such as local open mic nights, karaoke and recitals, as well as regular vocal workshops at my home studio. Through these experiences students get to know one
I strive to provide my students with singing experiences outside of private voice lessons, which greatly accelerates progress. These include public performances with fellow students such as local open mic nights, karaoke and recitals, as well as regular vocal workshops at my home studio. Through these experiences students get to know one another, forming a supportive, non-judgmental community in which they feel safe to explore their developing vocal strength and skill.
Here are a few of my students at a recent open mic night. I consider public performance to be a crucial component in training the voice, and I encourage students to get out and perform as much as possible!
